Soundscene is run by and for young people, as a sub-committee of the CCYCP Management Committee.
Soundscene volunteers organise regular gigs, run practice rooms and run studio 2 at Cathays Community Centre.
Sunday afternoon youth provision is also run by Soundscene, in partnership with Cardiff County Youth Services. The committee has also progressed into the educative side of music, and runs music workshops and training courses.
Cathays Youth Music Project (CYMP) was set up in 1996 so that young bands could have access to the practice facilities at Cathays Community Centre. Subsequently gigs were organised as a way for the bands to play to an audience. CYMP evolved into Soundscene in 1999 and it now serves the whole of Cardiff and its surrounding districts.
